It had been a long day. Chris, Marcus, Adrian and Rebecca had just finished raiding a gas station for supplies. Supplies he hoped would last them until his wife Ashley and her sister Kylie returned to their group. They had been separated a few days ago and Chris had been looking for them all the while taking care of his son, best friend and sister in law. It worried him but at the same time he knew Ashley was a fighter. He had made sure she could fight and shoot right around the time he became a cop. He was sitting in the back of the truck with his son, Adrian while Rebecca was in the front and Marcus drove.
"Been a long day, son." Chris said as he stretched and got comfortable.
"Yeah, I know dad. I wish we would have found mom today."
"Me too." Chris said solemnly. "But she's okay. She's got food, her guns, plenty of bullets and your aunt Kylie to help her make it back home safely." he smiled. He had to keep hope; especially around Adrian. "I want you to take your bible and read it tonight before bed."
Adrian nodded as the truck reaches a stop at an old run down house that they had moved into for the last few days. They jumped out of the truck and grabbed their bags heading in.

♚ Marcus went upstairs to one of the rooms and laid his backpack full of stuff down on the bed, taking out the bottle of bourbon he took and putting in a desk drawer before heading downstairs and looking out the windows.
"I keep looking to see if Ashley and the rest will be here soon. But I havent' seen any trace of them yet." he said to Chris who sighed, obviously worried about the other half of his family. Marcus nudges him and tries to cheer him up. "Don't worry bro, you saved my life, you may feel guilty for what you had to do but I understand now. As much as it hurt to see her become that and die..I knew you did the right thing. And even if I have to go hunt them down, your wife, sister in law and daughter will make it back alive."
He made that promise clear to Chris, they were like brothers, and he knew Chris had a tremendous amount of guilt for having to shoot Denise and for taking away Marcus' wife. But in time Marcus knew it had to be done, it didn't help anything but he didn't blame Chris for it
