HISTORY: Marcus was an all American kid, growing up in a middle class family and playing sports with his friends in school. He graduated with honors and enrolled in the United States Marine Corps, playing football in college while working as a soldier. He did two tours of Iraq before coming home a changed man after having to kill to survive and seeing so many he cared about dying in action. Upon return to the US, he joined the Police force and served with Chris Tyler where the two became best friends and partners. Chris eventually introduced Marcus to Denise and the two would fall in love and marry. At a family barbecue with Chris's family, a walker attacked his wife. Chris saved her life before she could be killed. The group escaped together as the town was overrun by Walkers and in time, Chris had to make the difficult decision to put Denise down because she turned. Marcus is shaken from that and drinks heavily to forget it but tries to keep it hidden from the group.
