After setting up her cot that she shared with Rick, Lori sat herself down onto the hard mattress. Sighing deeply she removed her boots, her body ached and she was hungry, or rather the baby was. Yawning as she slid her boots under the bed Lori slowly laid down pulling the covers over her. Today was a long day, she had helped wash some clothes while the others cleared the prison inside and out of walkers. Lori felt useless with this baby inside her, but she knew she would be useless and a liability when it came out as well.
Not able to fight back the sting of tears Lori started to cry, wiping at her face when she heard boots on the cement floor. Should she pretend to sleep, or sit up to great him?. She decided to sit p running a hand through her dark hair her eyes soon met with her husband's.
Rick was doing his normal round around the prison. He did it to keep his mind off everything that has happened, the fact he both hated and loved his wife, to hide the betrayal he felt when she turned to ignore him after he killed Shane. The walks kept him distracted, made him feel somewhat normal. He was far from the man he once was before the Walkers came in some aspect but his marriage has always been strained and would continue to do so with the extra stress.
His wife was heavily pregnant and he was not even sure if he was the dad. He put a brave face on, declaring the unborn his but it made him feel sick to think his wife laid with his best friend, like the walkers weren't the most twisted evil in the world. He decided to call it a day, he was just tormenting himself. He was heading back to his own cell when he heard Lori moving around. As much as he could not be bothered with an argument he stopped and walked towards her.
He looked for a while, sharp blue eyes into her brown ones wondering what she was thinking about. He leant his left shoulder against the open cell door and had his hands in his pockets. He licked his bottom lip before he spoke, trying to calm himself down. "How is the baby?" He asked in his serious tone, he was not up for a casual chat.
Lori looked Rick over, hands in his pocket and an almost unreadable face. It took a moment for Lori to register what he had asked before she nodded slowly. "ya, it's fine" the explanation was simple. Swallowing to moisten her dry throat she gave a groan as she shifted in the bed and pulled the covers over her more. Her brown eyes shifted to Carl asleep in the twin bunk next to their own before looking back to Rick. "How was today?" she asked, trying to cut the silence in the cell.

Rick glanced into the distance, this conversation felt awkward. He knew his marriage was apart and perhaps before everything they would have divorced by now. He placed his hands in his pocket and spoke in a hardened, quiet tone.
"Nobody died today, so it's a good day." He turned to her, he had a serious look on his face. He took one hand out of his pocket as he placed his hand on the stubble growing on his face, he was thinking before he spoke. Trying to put into words what was on his mind without sounding too harsh.
"Do you think we will ever fully work out? This marriage? Did we only stay together for Carl?" The thoughts of her and Shane still burnt his mind. "After everything, the killing of Shane." He took a breathe, "We were back to how we were before I got shot. The arguing, not talking to each other." He went silent as he continued to look at her, studying the emotions on her face. "I guess we are all different people now."
Lori could only nod slowly when Rick stated that no one had died today. She remained silent as her brown eyes watched him, he was thinking she could tell just by his body. Lori remained quiet to take in her husband's words. Her eyes wideend when he started to speak of the marriage, Carl and then finally Shane. Then he took a breath before continuing, Lori agreed they were acting like they did before the outbreak and she didn't like it. But finally Rick was opening up to her after weeks, she needed to take this opportunity and say what was on her mind.
"Ya I do, I think we can work on this...." she paused her voice was low and she struggled not to cry. Taking in a deep breath she calmed herself "I-I still love you... that will never change and I want this to work for Carl, this baby and us" those words were never more true then now. It took her a moment to realize what she had just said to him, but she didn't regret it. Lori shifted on the bed so Rick had room to join if he wished, he looked tired "did you want to get some sleep?" she asked her eyes remained on him to see what he did or said next.
Rick turned away to look back at a wall. Pushing a hand through his hair. Her words seemed odd to him, love? Did he still love her? Could he? After everything that has happened recently. He remember how he felt when they first met up again, when he thought he lost both her and Carl. He turned towards her again, his face showing some determination, "I would like this to work as well." He stated.
Rick walked up to her bunk, taking a seat next to her. It felt odd being next to somebody. He grew cold after he declared it was a dictatorship however things might just work out, things might change. He turned to her, "I think I still love you as well." He was a changed man from when he was a police officer. "I have first watch tonight, I'll come back when I am off. If that is alright with you?" He asked.
