It All Comes Crashing Down -- OPEN TO PRISON GROUP --
They had been in the prison for a little less than a week. It was taking some getting used to. There was not a whole lot of room in the cells but then again, Daryl did not have a lot of stuff. They had set up a supply area and a shower area as well. The showers were really pretty ingenious. The water was forced up the hose with air pressure and came out from the old shower heads. They had a table for eating but it was used more for planning missions and scavenger hunts. Mainly they ate here on the floor. It was more comfortable than it sounded.
He sat with the others right now. They all sat around a small fire in the middle of the cell block on the main floor. It was dark outside so the only fire was the only real light in here other than flashlights. Daryl glanced at the other people in the circle. They had all been through so much. Lost people they loved, almost lost their own lives countless times. Lori was pregnant. Carl was growing up so fast. Carol had lost Sophia. Andrea lost Amy. It just kept going on...
Daryl himself... not knowing where Meryl was and Sophia had broken his spirit as well. Daryl had spent a lot of time looking for Sophia. He had believe all along that she was still alive. He had put everything into finding her. All along, he had been wrong. Daryl had never really told anyone just how much that had effected him. He had failed her. Failed Carol. Daryl suddenly looked down at the cup of instant coffee he held in his hands. He swallowed hard. That though made him want to scream. To cry. He still dreamed of her stepping out of the barn.
...The coffee was a lifesaver. Glenn had come back with a few jars of it. It was too quite in here. A few people were still eating. Daryl had managed to get a deer so there was more than enough to go around.
