The wind held a vigil this morning, the sun was covered by clouds which gloomed over Woodbury. It was a silent morning, many still slept in their beds. Amongst all this silence and gloom sat a girl, at the peak of adolescence. With hair as brown and silky as chocolate, and eyes that held a rare innocence that wasn't common nowadays. She served as a ray of light in the middle of all this darkness, completely oblivious to what lay outside the guarded walls. The tiny fingers of this child, scribbling delicately over street-gravel. The radiant color of purple chalk had rubbed over her hands and clothes, even some on her face. The sound of her sweet humming sing-song spilled quietly from her rose-petal lips. Slowly rising from her crouched form, she tossed the chalk onto the ground.
Staring at 10 simple hop-scotch squares labeled with numbers. Than she did what most kids knew how to do. Skip. She jumped landing on a single foot in square 1 and proceeded forward. Something as simplistic as this kept her attention, occupied. Even if there were more fun things she'd rather do.
The silent pitter-patter of her skipping echoed through the streets of Woodbury.
The Governor had risen early he needed get some work done, well if honest with himself he always did one thing with running this place meant he had to insure his people keep safe and they keep up with having things that where needed like food and water at least for the basics. He was going to have some of his men go out to see if they could find some rabbits that where not rabid or did not look it. Once they found some they would bring them back alive to be keep in cages to insure they were safe to eat and allow them to breed to provide food for the people that would always be around.
He had cheeked few things as he made his rounds, it was as he was doing this that he saw Isabella, as she was drawling. It was good to see one so young be able to enjoy their life in such a world, he did not know how long she would keep such a way yet it was not bad if she keeps for some time for this world was nothing once people knew the truth could forget or go back to the way they were.
Moving closer to her he spoke "Hello Isabella, up quite early to great the day and playing hop-scotch I see" He did not wish to keep her from playing her games or just playing yet he knew that it was important to ensure that the younger generation was not overlooked for they would be the ones that took over after them if they were not made ready or felt like they belonged it would or at least could turn out bad.

Isabella was unaware of the Governor as he approached. She fought to keep her balance, to keep from toppling over. The soft pitter-pattering of her skipping-shoes came to a halt. Looking up at the Governor, she greeted him with a radiant smile. She always did like the Governor, she wasn't quite sure why exactly. Maybe it was the honest eyes or the scruffy face. He was a subtle reminder of her step-father, whom had both of the same characteristics. It was a welcome memory and she remained open to that reminder. "Yep! Better early than not, is what my mama use to say." Isabella gently rocked back onto her heels. "Oh!" She said, forgetting her manners.
"Do you want a turn?" She seemed almost apologetic, as if she'd done something wrong. She stepped back from the hop-scotch squares, politely gesturing to them. "You can if you want, I don't mind."
"I know curiosity killed the cat, but as you can see. I'm not a cat."
