Things Happening In Woodbury (Bridget)

Bridget was a little surprised the Governor had decided to give her a higher ranking. All she'd asked is that he was more wise with whom he put in charge. She had told him she'd overthink his offer, and she had. She wouldn't take the position if she didn't think she could handle it. And he wouldn't of offered if he hadn't thought she was worthy of it either. The captain had been demoted and stripped of his rank. Truthfully the jackass never deserved it in the first fuckin place.

She'd do all she could for Woodbury, this was her home now and frankly she never felt more at home. It's sad that it took a apocalypse for her to feel like she belonged. It was dark out there, beyond the gates, most of the folks in Woodbury hadn't seen what she had seen. Or done what she had to do, she had nothing to loose now. Woodbury had it's dark side, but she loved it all and all, it was safe, warm, plenty of food, it was home.

Today was the day, the day she gave the governor her answer. Bridget woke up early like usual and put on her boots, tied em tight and put on a clean crisp shirt. Which she had the privilege of having cleaned, before she wore the same shirt until it wore itself out and she was forced to find a new one. Her dog tags lay on the side table by her bed, she picked them up and put them on. She didn't really need them nowadays but it was a good reminder of what it was like before. If anything the world was worse before, than now, she didn't regret her mistakes before. Than again she had no reason too, because those mistakes gave her something better.

She pulled her hair up tight and made her bed before walking outside. As she walked into the streets of Woodbury she noticed a change in the air and attitude of the residents. It was peaceful, not like before, no yelling, just calm. It was nice... She entered another building and trotted up a few steps, stopping at the Governor's doorway. She knocked waiting for a answer before entering.

Once receiving an answer Bridget walked in, slowly shutting the door behind her. She wasn't' really to sure if she trusted the Governor completely, like most he'd probably gone through a lot. Which indeed could make him a strong leader or a reckless one. But even so he knew what he was doing and she respected that of him.

Bridget said nothing, she tried computing exactly what she was going to say. Her words needed to be as nimble as possible. She took a seat and leaned back awkwardly in the chair. Her mind raced with possible answers, she could give him a straight up Yes, but that wouldn't be delicate enough. She could act honored and thank him before accepting, but truthfully she wasn't sure how thankful she was.

 Bridget never was one to make difficult choices on her own, but she often had to. After what seemed like forever she opened her mouth to speak, "Yes I have," Bridget paused to let her words take full affect.

 "I've thought greatly over it, truthfully it's a lot to handle even if it is only whilst you are away. But despite that, I know I'd do better caring for the duties of the town than that jackass whom only took advantage of it.

 As it is now I don't trust anyone else to take the position for a fear they might do the same thing or worse...and next time if something gets neglected, it could have a drastic affect and we could all be dead."

She held a momentary vigil, than spoke the last set of words. "I accept the position."

Bridget listened carefully, this was both a great honor but also a dutiful responsibility. In her mind a community was like a stack of dominos, one misplaced domino and the entire lineup would fall. She knew a lot would be expected of her and she indeed expected a lot in return. She was willing to take a stand if anyone were to defy her or the Governors wishes.

"Understood, those are few things that will need to be discussed with the town. And myself have no problem in doing. As for the lazies in this town I have my ways of dealing with them, I just haven't had the opportunity of having dealt that card until now" Bridget thought of how she'd even deal with those types of issues. Back in the army abandoning ones post was enough to get one a nice smack across the mouth. But she knew it wasn't acceptable in a community and that would only set a bad example for others. She'd probably just take the Governors suggestion and give lazies a double shift in something.

Frankly she believed such slothfulness needed a more severe punishment. She wouldn't have any idiot topple over her dominos just yet.

"As for the Captain, I have been and will continue watching him closely. I consider him a threat and a liability to this town still, even if he is no longer doing anymore harmful damage as of now. Thanks to you of course."

Bridget resented many in her days but he was truly worth resenting. He'd put this town in danger and for that she'd never trust the Captain again in this lifetime. In her personal opinion he was more use dead than alive. She'd never do anything to hurt Woodbury but killing Captain Dipshit had crossed her mind more than many times.

She had a few ideas for making the town run more efficiently. Bridget would make sure those ideas came to use whilst she was in command. Sharing her ideas was a different story even if she knew the Governor was open to them.

"Right now the only critical issues is the problem with authority, which is in process of being dealt with. I'm sure there are many more issues to be looked at but right now this is the only problem worthy of fixing. After than I'm sure we can patch-up the rest. I'm glad to be on your side as of now,

I look forward to our time together."

Bridget questioned wither or not that sounded too cheesy. Even if she did mean it, noble words for a not-so-noble-woman. Bridget was prepared to take charge and help the Governor in what ever way she was humanly possible to do.

She would for Woodbury and for the sake of every living creature within it's walls.

Bridget didn't look forward to their discussion with the town, but even so it was more than necessary. She wasn't the fondest person amongst Woodbury, yet she believed she was decently respected. She did what was necessary to keep the town safe, and that's all that mattered to her. Not many have the courage to defy against a higher power, such as for example the Captain. Those whom followed people like him, the mislead, the abused, the weak. They had no gut, no willpower to fight against such a incompetent but threatening figure. Fear was the cause of this mishap and she highly resented even the existence of the emotion.

A higher power is not one whom relies on force to distribute, but relies on the soul purpose of conduct and established order. Such as the Governor himself, even if he had difficulties in conduct he still maintained some sort of humanity.

Bridget stood and folded her hands behind her back austerely. A soldier at heart she still obeyed the strict but valued life-style of the Military. Standing in such a poise but firm position was both a sign of respect for ones self but also the respect for a higher figure. Bridget valued such and continued to show such traits.


"As I do appreciate the offer, I have my own weapons of choice. And even so like you say, I am perfectly adept in defending myself."

She indeed was highly capable of hand-to-hand and she didn't require a gun to cause harm. She would hope she wouldn't have to use such on anyone. But in the hole she was in, she probably would have to. Bridget knew that the Captain and including his greasy haired, beady eyed friends also had a grudge towards her. No one liked a snitch, not back than, not now, not ever.
She was though willing to sacrifice her own safety for the wellbeing of those in need.

She just hoped others would recognize that and respect her for it.

Bridget stood stiffly beside the Governor, as she looked out on the crowd that had congregated. She'd noticed a few whom looked unsatisfied with the Governors choice of leadership. She frankly could care less, they could go fuck themselves for all she cared. She'd make damn sure, that they followed her orders even if it meant she had to prove herself time and time again.

When the Governor looked at her, she almost didn't notice. Seconds later she snapped out of her trance and cleared her throat, acknowledging him. "Yeah, I have a few things." She added soon after.

She'd thought out thoroughly, all the things she thought should of been enforced. Or things that she'd do differently if she was in charge beforehand. The first subject she moved to was the problem with laziness. Which was in high importance for Bridget, even in the Military she'd hated watching her superiors sitting on their fat asses while she worked hers off.

"Lately I've noticed few neglecting to show up or lacking punctually on their shifts on the walls. You know exactly who you are," She paused and scanned the crowd, letting that take affect. Hopefully she'd rattle a few bones in the process.

"Being on time and showing up for shifts is in high importance, especially to protect Woodbury. It was tolerated before and now that's dealt with... I won't even hesitate to take action and set consequence if I see it happening again. Such negligence won't be handled with leniency as handled before."

Her voice sounded extremely solemn and withheld aggressiveness. She wanted everyone to know she meant business. Hopefully that was noticed and had been taken to mind. After that being said, Bridget averted her gaze and folded her arms across her chest.
