Shade brushed sweat from her forehead, and followed Robert. They'd called it quits for today, but she looked forward too tomorrow. It had been a while since she'd trained with anyone, usually she joined her dad at the gym. But now that he was dead that was only a distant memory. Shade was slightly nervous being inside the walls of the prison. Usually she was the outside man, watching over to make sure nothing went wrong. The need for sleep had overwhelmed her the past few days, she hadn't slept much at all. Luckily a good meal and some rest would give her much needed energy for a trip into town tomorrow. The surrounding towns had already been slightly picked over, she'd have to go a little out of her way to find food. But it would be worth it if she found something.
Shade plopped down next to Robert by the fire, the heat felt radiant, it was nice since her hands were practically frozen. She rubbed them together and hovered her hands over the fire. Shade kept her eyes on the ground, purposely avoiding to look around her. It had been a long while since she had any direct living-human-contact. She grabbed her bag and dug around, whilst working with Robert had kept her busy, it didn't make her hunger and thirst disperse. She pulled out two water bottles and politely held one out for Robert.
"Here, thirsty?"
She may have had little but she was content with sharing what little she had with the people she knew.

Robert felt Shade seat beside him he did not mind, it was good to have people to speak with something that he had not always had yet most the time it was something people wanted that they would seek out people. In the end most did not want to be lonely even if they put up a front they wanted nothing do with people it was in one's blood to want company even if it was only one person. At her words he spoke "Thanks"
He took the water before opening it to take a drink and closing it. He would be sure to repay her for it, he could use the morning water he could gather to refill it or even a pond water he knew was to clean to where it would be safe to use even if it took ether hours of letting it be pure or boiling it. Robert would make the water last yet the bottle would help to storing the it to be carried. "Do you ever have a hard time finding water?"
He thought to ask for it was not good to take all ones water or food for that matter. He did not wish to take too much from her and he did not know what others around the group might think if they asked her for water or that and did not get it yet perhaps she would share so long as she had it.
"No problem." She accepted his thanks and screwed off the cap to her water taking a swig. The water felt cool going down her throat, it was pleasant since she hadn't had a drink since this morning. She was glad to be around others even if she didn't know them well. Her own loneliness wasn't enough to keep her content. Books also may have been comforting but it was nothing like having someone to really talk to. Robin Hood, Mr. Lorry and the cowboys from her books couldn't hop out of the page and chat with her like real people could. Such a shame...
She thought about Roberts question, hard time? No, it was survival. She'd had harder things to-do than gathering water. "It's not hard, but it's not easy if that's what your asking. I just find a pond or a stream, if it's a pond I check it for worms than boil it. If its a stream I just bottle it." It wasn't too utterly complicated, unless she had to boil the water than that was a different story. Starting a fire in the middle of the woods with little means of defense or the risk of making too much smoke wasn't too easy. Those times she wished she had a stove...electricity was a highly missed property of her everyday life.

Robert heard her words "Makes since would be nice to find a safe place, that had water running threw it that was clean" It was true "Of course would be great if we could just breed are food, I am just not sure what animals would be safe. And I only know one animal that would be the best to pick for food"
He watched her smirking lightly since he was not much for smiling "Makes you miss the finer things in life" He meant it of course he did know anyone that would miss things that once where and if lucky it would be back to normal before to soon yet that was more a dream than anything that would really be.
The thought of a safe place with running water, seemed unrealistic. But who knows? "That would be nice, and as for food. Rabbits are a good supple or Chickens possibly, though you'd need a rooster for breeding. Though either way chickens will lay eggs without a rooster." The thought of raising and breeding their own food, seemed smart. But at the same time, cruel to raise something for it only to become dinner. But nowadays most had no choice, food is food. "The problem with rabbit meat, is it's incredibly lean so you couldn't live off of rabbit alone..."
"Indeed it does..." Truthfully Shade wasn't sure if things would ever be the same again. Especially to her, after the loss of her parents and the disappearance of her sister nothing would ever be the same. The sudden thought of food made her notice her hunger once more. She picked up her backpack again pulling out a can of Georgia Peaches.
Nothing's sweeter than Georgia Peaches.

He heard her words "True but, it as you said would be food if we where luck could find some chickens as well rabbits that would be a good start" He chuckled of course "Of course if we did we would have to stay here and not move any where, yet it would be a good set up for the most part"
He knew that it was not easy form to kill an animal yet it was a way to live and some eat other animals just not he could eat some of them even if hungry. Looking at Shade he smirked "We still must be dreamers or be forced to go mad" Of course some of them might go mad still this place had a way to eat at people slowly.
"So what book have you been reading?" It was no secret that she had been reading, yet finding books was not as hard as some things just getting them back was one thing. Yet it was good to know such a skill let we lose it and could not read at all that would be a very sad thing.
Shade couldn't imagine them staying in the prison forever, eventually it would fall...usually all safe places fall at some point. Nothing lasts forever, that's for sure. "Well I suppose you could try to find some dog-carriers and put the rabbits in that. If you were to move anywhere take the rabbits with you...Chickens might be a problem to move because large crates are harder to carry..."
Shade smiled radiantly at Robert's influencing words. "Wise words for an old man." She said that almost tauntingly, despite how grownup she tried to act, the kid in her still seemed to show every now and than. Shade crossed her legs and slid her knife out of it's cover, she than began slowly cutting open the can of peaches. Sweet, delectable peaches...if she hadn't ate peaches every day this week she might have enjoyed them more.
The mention of books got her full attention, Shade was happy to talk about books anytime. Books were like her escape from this planet...she wished she could jump into the pages of a book and live in there. If only, if only...
"Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens...I'm almost through with it though." She reached into her bag and showed him the book before setting it down and prying open the can. She lifted the can to her lips and sipped the nectar, it was sickly sweet like candy almost. She held the can out offering peaches to anyone who wanted any.
"Nothing like Georgia Peaches...well that's what the can says anyhow."
"Don't talk down to me because of the way I look. I'm not a child, I'm not your sweetheart and I sure as hell ain't gonna take crap from you."

With her words he smirked "We can worry about that if it happens" Her next words he shock his head "An old man, I suppose I am in your eyes" With her last words "It is a good story if not a bit sad. How are you enjoying it?" He thought to see how she liked it since it could be she liked it or she did not yet it was something to read the story was an interesting idea it was a more the fact of just two different ways of life something hardly known any more at least to such a degree."Are you a fan of Charles Dickens?"
It was light talk he knew yet it was talk all the same. "It will be interesting to see how we all sleep through the night or if are sleep is any better compared to sleeping in trees and that with one eye open" He moved to open the bottle taking another drink, before closing it up again as he waited to see what she would say.
She nodded and took a peach out of the can, quickly gulping it down. She hadn't been trying to mask her hunger and right now she couldn't. Next thing she knew it half the can was empty...how food goes so fast nowadays.
"It's interesting, very emotional." She stated poetically. She indeed thought it was emotional, she'd cried a few times reading it. Not as tragic or as corny as Romeo and Juliet but...close enough. "In fact I am, he has many great scriptures." She grinned whilst saying this...or she tried to anyhow her mouth was still stuffed with peaches.
"Sleeping in trees isn't so bad...it's falling out of the fucking tree part that hurts." Her smile faded, it hurt like hell. She was surprised she hadn't broken her neck yet. "Now if I had some rope I could harness myself to the tree to keep from falling out...I'm pretty sure I'm going to grow up with a crooked back though from sleeping in trees." She made a gesture of rubbing her back. She was sure she'd gotten some nasty scrapes and bruises lately.
"The ground may be cold, but I'm looking forward to sleeping on something more comfortable than a tree."
"Don't talk down to me because of the way I look. I'm not a child, I'm not your sweetheart and I sure as hell ain't gonna take crap from you."

"He does and all are good, Oliver Twisted and A Christmas Carol are my favorite yet we all have them he wrote well and since he based much of his books on his life it makes since" He chuckled with her words of trees, before he spoke "It does yet only takes once to do before we learn to use something to help use not fall out of trees at lest when sleeping"
He watched her "Yes sleeping on the ground is better yet will take getting use to it again" He looked at Shade "Does your back hurt? I could give it a message if you think it could help" He meant it no more than it sounded it was just a message nothing more yet some might not see it that way so he just waited to see what she would say if anything.
"Moby Dick is a decent story, though I would say the name could've used a little more delicacy." She shrugged.
"Well I've fallen out of that tree over a dozen times, couldn't find any rope or a harness of some sort to secure myself." Shade glanced at the bruise on her ankle, it had faded a little since yesterday but it still hurt when rubbed against something. "Probably, I haven't been able to sleep on the ground since before this apocalyptic shit started." Before now she had a comfy queen sized bed at home, it was soft but not too soft with a warm comforter...Her bed wasn't the most missed thing now, she'd gotten use to sleeping outside.
"I think it's more of bruises than it really is sleeping in the tree itself. I've made a habit of landing on my back when I fall. If I fall forward or sideways I could break my neck or crack my head open...than again that doesn't stop me from falling any other direction. My back is sore but the massage would probably only hurt me than help."
She appreciated Robert's concern for her, and offer was kind but the massage would probably only hurt. Since she knew she had at least a dozen bruises and cuts on her back. She couldn't reach any of the wounds on her back so she couldn't clean or check them. She'd have to get a stick or something and use that once she had the chance. At least than she'd be able to clean her own wounds.
"Much appreciated though, now what I could really use is a Hot/Cold Pack. That would make my day." She laughed lightly, it was indeed only a dream. Maybe she'd find one on her run tomorrow, who knows?
"Don't talk down to me because of the way I look. I'm not a child, I'm not your sweetheart and I sure as hell ain't gonna take crap from you."

"I suppose they could yet, since it was the name of the whale I suppose it does fit" He looked at her "That is a lot of times to fall out of a tree it is good you where not hurt more" It was true falling out of a tree could get one hurt greatly if not killed. "I do not think many of use have been able to sleep on the ground yet it will be nice but, for the hard ground not that a tree is any more soft" With her words he nodded lightly "True and it is something maybe to do later on once you have healed up all the way" He smirked at her "Some things can mimic like an ice pack or hot pack yet I will have to find some rocks the smother the better and hand size would be the best yet smaller ones can work as well" He figured they could find rocks around that was not hard, he might find some even now with the aid of is light since he might just grab a few rocks even if not all smooth to help aid Shade body to relax. Of course the cold would not be freezing for it would come from how cold the rock was and heat the same yet rocks could be heated up to help as a heat pack.
"True." She yawned, and covered up the leftover peaches to save for tomorrow.
"I'm surprised I hadn't broke my neck yet...my luck with eventually run out though." She knew the dangers of sleeping in a tree, and the good thing is, if she broke her neck it would be the fall that killed her. Even so she'd try to find something to fasten herself to the tree before sleeping in it again. "If anything a tree is worse than sleeping on the ground...it does keep the creepy crawlies away though." Shade hated spiders, and keeping up in the trees seemed like a good way to keep away from most bugs. Only if she had some repel bug spray...
"That would be nice, I'm sure my backs knotted up all to hell." Years of slouching and sleeping up in trees didn't help her posture that's for sure. "I didn't know that, It would be nice to have that kind of affect. I did have some arthritis muscle rub stuff, that has the same affect as hot/cold packs but it fell out of my bag and I have no fucking idea what happened to it."
"Don't talk down to me because of the way I look. I'm not a child, I'm not your sweetheart and I sure as hell ain't gonna take crap from you."

"Thiers ways to make a rope or something like it if we find the right items" He looked at her as he listened to her he chuckled "It does at that, yet at least you are not stuck in one place through the night" With her other words he spoke "Well the rocks would not be ice-cold unless you find a way to make them so yet it still would be cold and colder if you have them out of the sun or something like that and we will have to see a towel or a few shirts are use when using the rock as a hot pack, but we can look for some rocks when out tomorrow yet if we are lucky some will be found with in the prison or just around it" He looked at her "Maybe you will be lucky and find more of it as we looked around for things tomorrow"
"It would be nice, not being woken up by falling out of a tree." She scoffed.
Shade nodded, she'd rather be up a tree than in harms way. "Indeed." Shade was beginning to get tired, as fun as it was she needed her rest for tomorrow. "Sounds good, I'm probably going to head into town tomorrow and search for supplies. I'm running low on food and other essentials and if I get too low I won't be able to fill those needs in time. Plus I'm running low on books, I'll probably raid the library whilst I'm there." She smirked. "You never can have too many books!"
"Any who I need to get some rest." She rubbed her eyes and took a drink of her water before screwing the cap on and placing it back in her bag. Shade took her bag and layed it on the ground, even if she was sleeping with the creepy-crawlies tonight, she knew she was safe from dead. Which was just fine by her...
"Don't talk down to me because of the way I look. I'm not a child, I'm not your sweetheart and I sure as hell ain't gonna take crap from you."
